How does SolarQuotes make money?
SolarQuotes makes money by charging the companies that are part of the SolarQuotes network (who have been heavily vetted by me personally) for referrals to website visitors like you.
When you submit your details through our quote request form, you - as a potential solar customer - get the quotes for free, but the solar companies in the network pay us a small fee if we send them your quote request. We get paid whether you choose to buy solar from them or not. That’s how we stay independent.
The solar installers that we accept into our referral network:
- do not pay us a membership fee
- do not have to commit to a minimum spend
- do not pay us a commission on any sales
Do you pay more by using a solar installer referred by SolarQuotes?
The small extra cost to the solar installer who sends you a quote for solar through SolarQuotes compares very favourably with alternatives such as newspaper advertising, Google advertising etc.
But please be aware: SolarQuotes is not intended to be the place to find the cheapest solar system on the market. We know that the cheapest systems on the market are a false economy, and we would not put them on our roofs. SolarQuotes is a place to find great installers that will install quality at a competitive price.
The nature of our quotes service - with multiple installers providing competing quotes to one customer - means that installers must provide great hardware, great service and be competitive on price to win your business.
Getting new customers costs solar installers money. SolarQuotes is a low-cost way for good installers to grow. That helps keep Australian solar amongst the best value in the world.
We all know that many things in Australia are crazy expensive compared to the rest of the world. Just look at the cost of cars and houses! But did you know that, happily, Australian solar is amongst the cheapest available globally (yes - even the quality stuff).
We are proud to be part of the reason Australians can enjoy great value solar power.
Getting a regular flow of new customers costs a solar business money, whether they advertise on the radio, in the paper, online, on the telly, via letterbox drops, or using door-knockers.
At SolarQuotes, we make life easier (and cheaper!) for solar installers, because by selling quote requests to them directly, we reduce (or remove) their need to spend money on advertising and associated marketing staff.
The low cost of 'customer acquisition' in Australia is one big reason why you can get great value solar.
What we charge installers
For the purpose of transparency, below is what we charge installers for sales leads for an individual quote. If the quote covers multiple products, than each additional product costs an additional $5 +GST. For example, a quote for solar and a home battery would cost $65 +GST - that's $60 for the solar and an extra $5 for the battery.
- Residential Solar: $60 + GST
- Home Battery: $55 + GST
- Off-Grid: $80 + GST
- EV Charger: $30 + GST
- Hot Water Heat Pump: $35 + GST
- Solar Maintenance & Repairs: $36 + GST
- Commercial Solar: $185 + GST
- Extra product on the same request: +$5 + GST per extra product
