As I've mentioned in another article, who the 'best' solar company is, in terms of a specific company, is a moot question.
Instead, I've created criteria to distinguish a crap - or merely average - solar company from a truly great one that has its customers' best interests at heart.
In my opinion, a great solar company is one that:
- Does not use high pressure sales tactics to get homeowners to 'buy now'.
- Takes the time to understand a customer's needs, and recommends an appropriate solution.
- Can answer any questions a homeowner might have.
- Uses quality equipment
- Does not charge more than 10% deposit
- Provides great customer service both before and after a sale.
- Have an active online presence (in terms of reviews on third-party websites, such as mine)
It's all well and good to have these criteria, but how do you check them?
The easiest way to independently verify if a company meets the above criteria is to simply investigate their online presence, as well as customer feedback about them from Google, the Whirlpool forums, and my own website.
Customer feedback is the number one tool to sort the wheat (best) from the chaff (crap)!
