Q. I have recently had a solar system installed. We have 22 x 295w REC twin peak panels and 5 kW Fronius inverter = 6.5kw system.
The system has been installed 2 weeks ago with constant sunshine - no cloud or rain.
I notice on the inverter screen and Fronius app the total power generated each day rarely exceeds 5kw. This seems strange to me given I have a high quality 6.5 kW system with panels in full sunlight - there is no source of shade.
A. You have a 5kW inverter. It cannot output more than 5kW.
But that is OK!
Oversizing panels to inverter capacity is good design. What matters is not peak power but energy yield.
You lose almost no energy - sounds counter intuitive but true.
